Rex, the Hamster - Stephanie Plum Series

Rex, the hamster is the closest thing Stephanie has to a confidant. He is there when she need to talk and he listens so well! She really loves him and never fails to save him from the mayhem that often happens in her apartment.

Rex was running in his wheel when I got home. I switched the light on, and he stopped dead in his tracks. black eyes wide, whiskers twitching in indignation that night has suddenly disappeared.

From Eleven on Top :
   'Rex is pretty much nocturnal so were sort of like ships passing in the night. As an extra treat, once in a while I drop a Cheez Doodle into his cage and he emerges from his soup can home to retrieve the Doodle. That's about as complicated as our relationship gets.'
